MUMA

Composit

The MUMA, Marble Museum in Carrara, was created in 1982 thanks to the initiative of the local council to promote and preserve the local marble industry. Now the museum is an underused structure, that shows a real lack of some basic facilities such as a new and functional ticket office and a bookshop.

In occasion of “Destini Svelati” event (22, 23, 24 July 2011), the administrator asked GAMS to set up a new temporary ticket office and bookshop area. The restyling was made using Bencore materials and furniture elements. The Bencore is a composite translucent material with features of lightweight, resistence, brightness.

GAMS also designed a suggestion for a renovation of the area, designing a desk and a modular bookcase in Bencore material.
